About our Air Units
Since 2001 all of the Medium Air Units we have sold have been new, but we have sold them at the rebuilt price. As of January 1, 2004 all Medium, Heavy and Very Heavy Air Units are brand new. Some of the pieces for these units are made off shore, and the rest of the parts are made by us, and the complete units are assembled by us.
We firmly believe that no other air unit will match ours in performance and reliability. Since 1987 we have bought, tested, rebuilt, and modified thousands of air units to find particular ones that met our requirements for rate of fire, hardness of hit, durability, variability, and ease of use. There are only a few which do this. You are free to spend your own time and money to discover this for yourself. I have a photo somewhere of a huge pile of air units on my workbench, every maker, size and configuration you can imagine, over 50 units in one big pile. I have been through every one, used every one, and know little things about every one. Sand rammers, needle scalers, plating rack scalers, chippers, destruction guns, air chisels, rivet guns, zip guns, stone carving units, and palm nailers.
I have designed the tooling for my Air Power Hammer around the performance of a few well-chosen air units. My tooling works well for me. I am a professional metalman with many years making and repairing many different metals and parts for many different markets. This doesn't mean that I know everything about this. You are free to experiment, too. Have fun! Kent White

Homebuilt Air Hammer Plans:
|
Complete set of 18" x 24" construction blueprints. Contains plans for three models: bench-top, basic floor model (welded steel), and for the "fancy" floor model you provide the "recycled" lumberyard bandsaw cast iron frame.
A stout 4" x 6" rectangular tube frame with 25.5" throat coupled with a tall die-post enables many steel parts, from deep motorcycle fenders to automobile patch panels, to be worked with ease. Custom aluminum tanks are easily made on this hammer!
The stable, compact frame is designed to be sound deadened and stablized, as well. The industrial air unit has a .498 receiver and can be gradually controlled from very slow, accurate hits, all the way up to high speed, rapid fire.
Plans include the specifications and profiles for constructing the basic upper and lower hammer dies. To complete the air hammer you will need to provide a high-quality air unit (description in plans), air hose and foot control to govern the impact rate of the air unit.
The upgraded air unit clamp here on the site is superior to the fabbed clamp in the plans...but you don't get to make it yourself.
