TM Reverse Air Hammer Dies
When you need to make a saddle, ducktail, or a fairing shape you need these dies. These shapes are called “reverses” because they are the reverse of a bowl or hollow shape. (Another way to think of it – bowl shapes can hold water, reverse shapes cannot.) Reverses can be difficult to master, as well as to make properly. The hand method requires that you use a round-faced mallet and a shot bag or a sand bag to whack away at the metal until it is roughed into sort of what you need, and then you have to smooth it out, either with a slapper and dolly or with a Wheel. This can be a slow, tedious, tiring and sometimes frustrating process.
Folks that use our Reverse Die Sets say they are MUCH faster and you get a much better looking finished part. “ I once had a race with a man who was using a mallet and a bag to make some aircraft fairings. I gave him an hour’s head start. The mallet and bag man made his fairing in 2-1/2 hours. I made my fairing using the air hammer and the Large Reverse dies. Mine were done in 35 minutes and had a better appearance. The poor guy left the shop without saying anything.”
If you are careful with these dies you don't have to do much smoothing. Your hammer does have to be set up carefully so the faces of these dies line up right on the button. We have two sizes, one for large reverse shapes and one for small reverse shapes. The dies are hardened steel and they are precision ground. And like all of our dies – are made in America.
Power Hammer Large Reverse Die Set
Also known as “linear-stretching dies,” these hardened steel die sets have precision ground faces for stretching the metal rapidly and accurately while leaving minimal marks. They can be used to shape any metal under 3/16″ thick. When making large reverse and saddle shapes (such as ducktails and aircraft fairings) these dies stretch the edge of the metal. Please note: The bottom die must be held stationary by using a strip of adhesive tape to work correctly (see Air Hammer Operations DVD for specifics).

Power Hammer Small Reverse Die Sets
This hardened steel die set is precision-ground for perfectly flat working surfaces. It is designed for working in tight places, and on parts with small radii. Use this set for making small fairings and saddle shapes rapidly with exceptional control and minimal marks.

Reverse Planishing Dies, Non-rotating
How many times have you wished for a set of dies that could work every square inch when making complicated reverse shapes? Our new non-rotating die set allows you to smooth and adjust contours without leaving marks or stretching the metal! These dies are truly unique — there is nothing else like them on the market. Made from hard polymer. Set includes 1.25″ radius upper and lower dies.
