We need one of these at the shop

One of our favorite things about Anchorage was the plethora of unique drive thru espresso places that had fantastic coffee. This riveted sheet metal stand wasn’t in operation, but was parked just down the street from our workshop location.
Aircraft repairs

Since many of the participants were aircraft owners or builders, there was great interest in learning aluminum gas welding for both repairs and fabrication. Here Kent is giving a demonstration on repairing an aircraft part.
Oxy-fuel welding

Students worked in pairs practicing their welds.
Working on class assignments

Skill level ranged from those who had never welded previously, to guys who had been doing it for years. Everyone worked at their own skill level and pace.

As class progressed, larger, more complicated welds were attempted.

Bill Brown

Shown at left, is the owner of “Bob’s Services, our workshop location. He decided to jump in on the gas welding day. He had so much fun he was sorry he’d missed the previous days’ classes.
Field Trip!

Bill’s shop was just two blocks from the Anchorage airport. One of our hosts, Dan Schilling, brought us to the airport to check out the new Bearhawk he had built.

Paul Minelga

Another builder who attended the class. He also hosted us during our workshop and visit to the Kenai / Soldota area. A super-nice guy.
The Unflappable Mark Moyle

Mark is a pilot and builder who attended the class. Mark is the unofficial mayor of Platinum, AK (pop. 64), along with managing the airstrip, and acting as the town medic among his dozen other job titles.
